Dixon Intro: For those of you who have already heard about Steffen "Dixon" Berkhahn, 3 words are generally associated with his name : DJ, House and Deep. Take them, mix them and shake’em, whatever option you take, the equation is there. Dixon is for the last 10 years one of the more genuine & purest representatives of what is still called House Music. Yes, a lot of things were already said historically, philosophically and of course musically about House, but very few people have been true ambassadors of this legacy, especially in times where the word only was diluted by mass media and music charlatans all over.

Dixon has always been and played House since his mid nineties residencies in Berlin at the defunct E-Werk and Tresor Clubs, or the "Audio Video Disco" nights at WMF. His meeting in 98 with Jazzanova is already part of the legend now. Since his first remix of Extended Spirit’s Solid Water on Dialog, many artists have received the Dixon’s treatment and he has turned around the globe already a few revolutions.

"Somebody New" (with G. Levin and Clara Hill) & "Make Em Shake It" (with Levin & Capitol A), two of his own productions became worldwide club anthems and paved the way to the status he got today. He is also the one that introduced the music of his friends Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer (known today as Ame) to Jazzanova and offered to the Sonar Kollektiv the discovery of one of their best selling artists.

Knowing his character and the strong vision, it was just a question of time before he would translate this into his own project platform today called Innervisions. First in 2005 by re-establishing a true house vibe in Berlin with his Innercity parties in a building of the Alexander Platz, today considered as the best night of the city, Dixon followed shortly last summer with a series of releases on Sonar Kollektiv representing the sound of this night.

It is indeed that way that Innervisions began in july 2005 with the first Tokyo Black Star (DJ Alex from Tokyo and Isao Kumano) release Psyche Dance EP. But it was the second twelve in September 2005 that established the series (and the label) to another level : Âme’s "Rej EP" was literally played, charted & playlisted by everyone across electronic music scenes and became one of the most important tracks of the year. The Texel EP, the third episode, courtesy of Cologne’s Marcus Worgull confirmed in november that it wasn't an accident and that Dixon’s A&R'ing was a vision of the future but attributing the past in a subtle way. Closing 2005 with a second Tokyo Black Star release and the apparition of Rich Medina in a more laidback way with a quality dark boogie groover.

But as any clever strategist, Dixon let the dust of the fresh hype created in the last months of 2005 come down and prepared a powerful return with his 5th release in march 2006. By proposing an unprecedented collaboration between Âme, Henrik Schwarz, Derrick Carter and himself, "Where We At" released as a double header 2 version twelve, is a pretty sure shot to hammer the label in everyone’s consciousness.

And nothing is ready to stop the irresistible rise of Innervisions in 2006 with the next EP’s : Franck Roger’s "Back & Forth" (Innervisions 06), Atjazz’s "For Real" (Innervisions 07), and Marcus Enochson’s "Love Is On The Way" (innervisions 08) , Innervisions is one of the most exciting labels for Deep House for a long time.
